Tardy Procedures
NORTHWOOD TARDY PROCEDURES
In an effort to continually maximize learning opportunities for our students, Northwood has established procedures in order to prepare your child for a successful and timely arrival to school each day. As a reminder, classes at Northwood begin daily at 7:55 a.m.
Students are allowed into the building to take advantage of the Class Act Café as early as 6:30 a.m. Lockers can be accessed at 7:50 a.m. in order to prepare for advisory (A days) or 1st period (C & D days) that begins promptly at 7:55 a.m. We know that there are circumstances that prevent students from arriving on time. Please note that we have accounted for these situations and have allowed a maximum of five unexcused tardies each quarter. Please know that tardy arrivals will only be excused for doctor, dentist, orthodontist, or other health care provider appointments. Students must provide written notice from a health care provider noting the office visit. If a tardy arrival is due to a school bus issue, students will be excused. Once students have accumulated five unexcused tardies, an email or call home will occur to discuss and problem-solve with parents. After the fifth tardy has been obtained, a sixty-minute after school detention will be issued. Each tardy obtained after the fifth will result in a sixty-minute detention after school. Tardies will reset each quarter in order to give students a fresh start.
We are hoping that by establishing clear tardy procedures students will have maximum opportunities to learn from the minute school starts each day. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
